Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has been teasing details about its upcoming handset over the past few weeks. The company took to Reddit to share a few more specs ahead of the OnePlus 2’s launch on July 27.
To give an idea of the device’s size, the team shared the above image saying, “Under this OnePlus One there is a OnePlus 2.” It added that in spite of its smaller build, it will get a 3,300mAh battery, that’s nearly 10 percent higher in capacity than that of the One.
The device will also get multiple StyleSwap back covers to customize its look.
In addition, there will be different versions for Europe/Asia, North America and China versions with “much better band support than last time.” OnePlus noted support for the following wireless bands:
US GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8 FDD-LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17
Europe GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/5/8 FDD-LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20
OnePlus has decided to stream its product launch in VR view, which will require a Cardboard headset for the full effect. The company noted that it will offer a standalone app for the event, with both standard and VR viewing options.
When asked whether OnePlus One buyers will get first dibs on purchasing the new device, co-founder Carl Pei said, “Our early supporters will be prioritized,” but didn’t share additional details.
The OnePlus 2 is shaping up to be a formidable contender among high-end smartphones. The company previously announced that the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor and 4GB RAM, include a USB-C port and cost less than $450.
