The last time we wrote about The New York Times’ NYT Now iOS app, which curates ‘must-read’ content from the newspaper and beyond, it was to note that the news organization was disappointed with how it was performing.
It comes as no surprise then that the NYT has decided to can the current monthly subscription of $7.99 and relaunch the app as a free product. A rash of recent one-star reviews on iTunes suggests it’s a good move.
The switch will take place on May 11 and current NYT Now subscribers will be get access to all the of the NYT’s digital content on the Web and smartphones for the same $7.99 fee.
