The new game from the artist behind Threes looks like a rolly good time

If, like me, you enjoyed the look of the massively popular game Threes, you’ll certainly want to check out TumbleSeed, an upcoming title designed by artist Greg Wohlwend, who was behind the 2048-like number puzzler, as well as Puzzlejuice and Ridiculous Fishing.

Arriving early next year for PS4, Windows and MacOS, TumbleSeed sees players attempt to roll a seed up a procedurally generated mountain, using a freely tilting platform.

Of course, it’s not going to be easy: There are plenty of strange creatures to avoid along the way, and cool powerups that you can collect and use on your journey, like thorns to clear your path and rain clouds to fill treacherous gaps in the mountain. The art style certainly looks gorgeous, and I’m anxious to see how the TumbleSeed will be controlled, given its odd platform and the tricky obstacles it’ll have to face.

Can’t wait to try it out? You can get a sneak preview of TumbleSeed at PAX West in Seattle from September 2-5.
