I first watched this video in 1990 when I was still a student in college and it made a huge impression on me. Looking back at Apple trying to look forward is just so much fun.

This concept video shows Apple’s Knowledge Navigator concept video (made in 1987) by Allan Kay and team. This work builds on Kay’s original Dynabook concept developed at Xerox PARC in the early 1970s.

It is no iPhone and it doesn’t run Max OS X. No sign of the App store either. And ‘print’ this article? Come on, paper?? But I can only hope that Google will one day work as smooth as the on screen assistant here:
