Tesla confirms the Model X SUV will launch in September

Tesla confirms the Model X SUV will launch in September

You could easily miss it skimming through Tesla’s quarterly shareholder letter, but the company offered up a more specific time frame for its all-electric Model X SUV.

Snuck into a section detailing Tesla’s current production capacity, the company notes that as it prepares to launch the Model X in September, it’s building more test vehicles and finalizing arrangements with suppliers.

The Model X is being built at Tesla’s California factory, alongside its older Model S brother. The car was originally slated for a 2014 launch, but was met with numerous delays.

Now it seems we finally have a firm idea of when to expect it to be ready. Given it’s one of the first consumer SUV models to be powered completely by electricity, it has a good chance bring electric vehicles to the masses ever more than the Model S has.
