TaskRabbit, a service dedicated to helping you get stuff done, opened up operations in five new US cities. Starting today, customers in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC will be able to summon a TaskRabbit to help them complete a task, run an errand, or help them out with a project.
The new cities join a growing number of places around the US that the company currently services, including Austin, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
It also revealed that it’s on track to sign up 1.25 million new users this year alone, powered by its growing army of 15,000 so-called Rabbits — 2,000 of which have been trained and will operate in the five new cities.
TaskRabbit has been one of the popular services when dealing with this shared economy. But it has run into a bit of trouble in the past few weeks, notably being layoffs the company incurred in July. However, that hasn’t deterred the firm or its founder Leah Busque. In spite of this, it still seeks to persevere and take on an industry that its competitors, specifically Exec and Zaarly, have not wholly dominated yet.
