The Unicode Consortium has today released Unicode 8, an update to the specification that defines official emoji, so we get our first glimpse at what’s coming in the future.
Unicode 8.0 includes a number of new emoji, including a taco, burrito, face with rolling eyes, cheese wedge, a crab, thinking face, nerd face, lion face and more.
Now that the standard is official, phone operating system makers like Apple and Google need to adopt it for future versions.
Apple was the first to adopt the new racially diverse emoji earlier this year, so it’s likely these new emoji should appear in iOS 9 when it’s released this fall.
You can head over to Emojipedia to get a peek at the 37 new emoji which should land on your phone later this year.
