Heading to SXSWi? The Austin Party Guide app will keep you in free food and drink all week

Heading to SXSWi? The Austin Party Guide app will keep you in free food and drink all week

This year’s SXSWi is only a week away and if you’re preparing to make the trip to Austin, chances are that you’re already overwhelmed by the sheer number of parties it’s possible to attend.

Last year, mobile app firm Shoutem stepped in to help solve this problem with an app dedicated to keeping you abreast of exactly where you could be partying at any given moment. This year, the Austin Party Guide app is back and available now on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.

The free app lets you browse parties by date and time, and you can search for all-important keywords like ‘free’, ‘food’, and ‘cocktails’ – because no-one wants to go to a party where they have to pay for things, right?

Additionally, the app provides directions and a map view for each party, and you can opt to receive push notifications about what Shoutem reckons are the best parties each day. For each event, there’s an RSVP button to take you straight to the registration page.

It’s only available for iOS and Android, so Windows Phone and BlackBerry users are out in the cold (or at least out in the hopefully quite warm streets of Austin) but if you know of a similar app for other platforms, please let us know in the comments.

The Next Web will be out and about at SXSW, so we’ll see you there.
