Decoded Fashion takes place on November 1st at the Royal Society in London. The event brings fledgling businesses, designers and retailers together to foster changes in the market and there is a startup pitch competition taking place on the day to push the limits of tech and style.
10 startups will pitch live at the event and the winner will be determined by a panel of fashion and retail executives. The prize is $50,000 investment from Index Ventures, not a bad offering to get a startup off the ground or move it forward.
It is important to aim high when pitching and Robin Klein, venture partner at Index Ventures is keen to see companies with global ambitions:
“We are always looking for internationally minded entrepreneurs with innovative new business models and we were impressed with the calibre of fashion startups at the inaugural Decoded Fashion event last year. We are excited to have such an influential part in the European launch by allowing early stage startups to present their pitch.”
Future fashion
Along with the pitch competition, Decoded Fashion will have panels of experts and a wide array of interactive talks that should cover a topics including how to lure online shoppers and the use of technology in marketing.
Also taking place at the event, the UK government’s GREAT campaign will honor a company with the inaugural award for achievement in the intersection of fashion and technology. The award highlights the success of the digital fashion company and prominence of the fashion-tech community of London.
If you fancy popping along to the event, expect to see speakers from Facebook, Moda Operandi, ASOS, Westfield, Tumblr and more. There will also be an interactive room where new technologies are demonstrated to show how customer habits are changing.
Founded by Liz Bacelar, Decoded Fashion was successfully launched in New York in April 2012, with more than 650 attendees representing 220 brands. Tickets are available here and you can still catch the early bird prices until October 13.
