Ever wonder where the next startup boom might happen around the globe? A close look at StartupBlink might be of help. The site features a world map of startups, accelerator programs, coworking spaces and more.
While it’s hard to say exactly how many startups there are on Earth, StartupBlink knows where over 67,000 of them are located — along with nearly 100 accelerators and 200 coworking spaces.
StartupBlink also maps startup ecosystem influencers (like Mukund Mohan, Ben Horowitz, Steven Sinofsky, Gary Veynerchuk, and even our own Patrick de Laive), freelancers of various disciplines and job openings at startups.
The map lets you filter startups by industry and location, while the freelancer search filters guns-for-hire by discipline, specific skill set and hourly rate.
Startups can also create Blinks to broadcast news, event listings, promotions and even post questions for the community to respond to. Users can comment on and share Blinks via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Co-founder Eli David says that over 700 entities add themselves to the map each month. In addition, the team is working to establish data collaborations with local startup maps to increase StartupBlink’s listings, and will regularly interact with registered startups to keep the site’s information up-to-date.
While the interactive map and search functions work well enough, StarupBlink’s usefulness will depend largely on how comprehensive its listings really are. However, with its mix of features, it certainly has the potential to be useful to the community.
