    Mobile payments company Square wants to turn the humble digital receipt into a fully-fledged customer communication channel with the launch of Square Feedback today.

    The company said it processes more than 10 million digital receipts each month, and that they should “add value to the customer experience”, rather than just being a list of purchased items. As such, Square Feedback not only allows customers to leave comments, but also allows sellers to respond directly and resolve issues quickly.

    Customers can choose to receive receipts via email or text, and sellers receive an email alert whenever a customer leaves a comment.  The service is available starting today and there’s a 30-day free trial for interested businesses — after this it’ll cost $10 per month.

    The launch follows hot on the heels of a trial of its Square Order food service, and confirmation that it will be shuttering Square Wallet.
