TL;DR

Spider-Man Brand New Day earned $355M domestically and $927M globally, the second-biggest opening weekend ever

Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned $355 million in US and Canadian ticket sales in its opening weekend, Sony confirmed on Saturday. The figure makes it the second-biggest domestic opening in history, falling just $2 million short of Avengers: Endgame’s $357 million record from 2019. Internationally, the film collected $573 million, bringing its global opening to $927 million.

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, marks Tom Holland’s fourth appearance as Peter Parker. Zendaya returns as MJ in a story that follows Parker fighting crime in a world that has forgotten he is Spider-Man. The cast also includes Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Jacob Batalon, and Michael Mando.

Brand New Day set an opening-day record of $168 million on Friday, surpassing Endgame’s $157 million single-day mark. It also broke the record for preview screenings with $72 million on Thursday night, according to data from Rentrak.

Tom Rothman, chairman and chief executive of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group, credited the film’s broad appeal. “Brand New Day is fundamentally a movie about friendship, about the balm of connection in all our lives, and that is resonant to audiences of all ages and all around the world,” Rothman said.

The Spider-Man franchise is now approaching the $10 billion mark in unadjusted worldwide theatrical revenue, according to Paul Dergarabedian, head of marketplace trends for Rentrak. The third-biggest domestic opening of all time belongs to the previous instalment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which debuted to $260 million in 2021.

The result arrives at a moment when the broader box office is still recovering from the pandemic. Year-to-date domestic receipts are up 10 percent from last year but remain 16 percent below 2019 levels, according to Rentrak. The entertainment industry’s ongoing shift toward streaming has not erased theatrical demand for the biggest franchises, but the gap between blockbusters and everything else continues to widen.

Spider-Man has proven resistant to the superhero fatigue that has dragged down other Marvel properties in recent years. Several MCU films underperformed at the box office between 2023 and 2025, leading to questions about whether audiences had grown tired of the genre. Brand New Day’s opening suggests the issue was never the genre itself but the quality and character investment behind individual films.

The global total of $927 million makes Brand New Day the second-best worldwide opening ever, behind Endgame’s reported $1.22 billion. Crossing $1 billion in total global gross within its first week appears likely.
