South Park finally arrives on-demand in the UK

South Park Digital Studios and Comedy Central UK have launched South Park on Demand, letting fans of the adult-oriented animated series access Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Co. via a dedicated South Park online service.

South Park Digital Studios is a joint venture between Viacom Media Networks and South Park creators Matt Stone & Trey Parker. It’s a digital animation and development studio dedicated to creating mobile and digital applications, goods and gaming products, as well as overseeing social networking and all the digital syndication around South Park.

Comedy Central launched in the UK in April 2009, and is the exclusive UK broadcaster of 30 Rock, The Office (US version) and South Park, which airs 24 hours after the US.

South Park on Demand will offer up fifty episodes from the archives, including ‘Fishsticks,’ ‘The Death of Eric Cartman’ and the Emmy award-winning ‘Imaginationland.’ The launch episodes were chosen by UK fans in a poll over on Southparkstudios, and episodes will be renewed each month, based on fan-feedback.

South Park On Demand will also feature a ‘latest season’ catch-up service, with season 16 available at launch and the new season premiere this coming October. It will offer a seven-day catch-up service, with episodes appearing on South Park On Demand within 24 hours of broadcast. Users can pay £2 to access content for 24 hours, or £3 for 7 days…if you’re a fan, it’s a no-brainer which one you should go for.

“South Park has been on our TV screens and pushing boundaries since the late 90s,” says Philip O’Ferrall, Senior Vice President Digital at Viacom International Media Networks. “We are launching South Park On Demand in response to the huge demand that we have experienced on our sites for full-length episodes of this iconic show. Fans are now able to catch up with the latest seasons and access 50 of the funniest episodes from the archive each month.

“This online service extends our 360 strategy around South Park content, increases engagement with the brand and enables us to make our show more available to fans than ever before,” he continued.

You can access the on demand content by visiting South Park Studios.
