Soluto now lets you set up Dropbox accounts for others remotely

We first covered Soluto last year, a startup with $18million in funding behind it and a crack team of PC enthusiasts.

The platform allows Windows users to help other PC users with their machine remotely, and it moved its entire product to a browser-based solution. We also reported on its arrival on Windows 8 at Mobile World Congress earlier this year.

Now, the Israel-based company has announced an interesting integration with Dropbox, designed to make it simpler for users to install the file-sharing app remotely on machines belonging to their friends, family and colleagues. Say what?

This latest Soluto update means you can set up Dropbox on someone else’s PC without being there, so they can back-up and share their digital assets with others without the need for them to download and register for the service themselves, which is ideal for those non-technically minded acquaintances of yours. And for every person you set up on Dropbox, you also get 500MB of space in your own Dropbox account for free.

You first have to install Soluto on your machine, and be connected with the person(s) you want to set up with Dropbox:

Next, you can opt to launch Dropbox on your comrade’s machine, without them having to lift a finger. They’re also sent a Dropbox user guide automatically.

You enter their vital statistics, and at the point of setting them up, you can opt to receive 500MB of free storage for your own Dropbox account via a referral link provided on the page:

Dropbox is already used by Soluto users in 134 countries, and the company tells us that, perhaps unsurprisingly, the more PCs a Soluto user has, the more likely they are to use Dropbox. More than 40% of users with 4 or more PCs use Dropbox in comparison to those with just 2 PCs (27%) or 3 PCs (37%).

Dropbox is the 13th most popular app by Soluto users across the world, after the likes of Java, Paint.NET, Adobe Reader, TeamViewer, Skype and Google Earth.
