Last week, many Facebook users saw a cryptic sponsored post crop up in their News Feed: “Chatting just got more festive! Look out for a treat December 24th-26th.” Now that the day has arrived, we’ve put on our best Sherlock Holmes gear to deduce exactly what was changed or added. Our conclusion? A little snowfall for the Christmas period.

Now, whenever you open a private message or tap on a Chat Head, some beautiful snowflakes will begin descending around the little circular icon. The snowfall will stop momentarily, but you can trigger a new deluge just by tapping on your chosen Chat Head again.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled just in case Facebook has released any other Christmas-related features on the down low.
