As Variety reported, the whole thing is a stunt for Crypt TV, a digital network co-founded by the director. It’s all playing out through a 24-hour Snapchat narrative.

Viewers have that time to work out the identity of the killer who has been rapidly slicing through the group of social media ‘influencers’ who have been showing off their wooden acting at a mansion party.
