Mobile messaging service Snapchat has been in the limelight for apparently having rejected plenty of suitors, and it seems like the startup is staying independent — after it snagged Emily White, the executive in charge of running Instagram’s advertising business, AllThingsD reports.
White will be taking up the Chief Operating Officer post at Snapchat — becoming second in place to CEO and co-founder Evan Spiegel.
Despite its red-hot popularity, Snapchat has not generated any revenue so far. Starting to monetize is key to appeal to investors — and with White now on board, Snapchat appears focused on building its business.
