Snapchat adds two birthday filters so you can party with virtual confetti

Snapchat adds two birthday filters so you can party with virtual confetti

It’s been a busy week for Snapchat. After allowing anyone to create their own Geofilters starting yesterday, now the company is adding another two new filters to the mix: Birthday lenses

One is meant for your own birthday, and adds a bunch of confetti to the snaps you send to your friends. The other is for your friends’ birthdays – Snapchat will add a little cake emoji next to their usernames, and you can double-tap on them to activate a ‘birthday snap’ filter.

It seems like birthdays are a big thing this week, considering Facebook added a new birthday video filter yesterday.

That said, the filters won’t show up automatically – you have to enable them in settings menu of your app. The update is starting to roll out today to both Android and iOS users.
