Tado, a European rival to systems like the Google-owned Nest thermostat, has today announced support for IFTTT channels and the launch of a public API.
Naturally, by providing extensibility options, the company is hoping to expand its ecosystem of related devices and services by garnering developer support. So, for example, by connecting up your Tado with your internet-connected lights (via IFTTT), you could set it so your lights switch off automatically when you leave home by tapping into Tado’s geo-location feature.
Alongside the IFTTT integration, Tado also announced the launch of its first developer and partner APIs: “The Pebble and Android Wear apps have actually been created by two great minds from the Tado developer community. Tado offers talented developers the possibility to use the Tado API to create new apps,” the company said.
