Slack is finally rolling out Do Not Disturb

Slack is finally rolling out Do Not Disturb

Slack hinted a Do Not Disturb mode was coming to the service last month, but today it’s quietly confirmed that it’s rolling out to everyone in the next few days.

The new feature, which is well overdue, lets you select specific hours that you don’t want to be sent notifications for such as evenings or early in the morning.

Do Not Disturb settings now show for administrators

Do Not Disturb can be set on both a team-wide level or on an individual level and entirely disables notifications during those times.

By default, Do Not Disturb is set to between 10 PM and 8 AM in each individual’s time zone, though it can be overridden by the team’s administrators.

A note in Slack’s ‘What’s New’ section says that the feature will roll out in the ‘next few days’ but team administrators are already able to configure what hours are set as quiet right now.

Unless you’re an admin you won’t see any options for Do Not Disturb until it’s fully rolled out, but hang tight, as your notification overload is about to get slightly easier to manage.

We’ve contacted Slack for comment on when the feature will be available for everyone and will update when we hear back.
