Skype for Windows Phone update brings Cortana integration to let you dial with your voice

Skype for Windows Phone update brings Cortana integration to let you dial with your voice

Skype has released a new version of its app for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices which increases language support, provides an option to allow editing of your last sent message and, where applicable, provides integration with Microsoft’s Cortana virtual assistant.

Unsurprisingly, the Cortana integration will only work on Windows Phone 8.1 handsets, but provided your device fulfils this criteria and you’re based in the US, you can now initiate a Skype video or audio call with your voice alone. Skype said users on Windows Phone 8.1 will also now see Skype notifications in the Action Centre along with the rest of their notifications.

The company said the updated app now supports 51 languages, rather than the previous 19, and also includes a number of other performance improvements.
