Singaporean back-up service Dropmyemail arrives in US with Dallas office

Singaporean back-up service Dropmyemail arrives in US with Dallas office

Dropmyemail, an offshoot of Singapore-based startup Dropmysite, has landed in the US with the opening of a sales and business development office in Dallas, Texas.

The company announced the new office on Friday, highlighting its strategic location in the “telecommunication corridor” of the States. From Dallas, it hopes to expand to New York, Chicago and San Francisco.

In June, Dropmysite bought US-based competitor Orbitfiles and tipped that it was bringing its focus to bear on North America. The company’s ambitious end goal is to back up the Internet.

Chris Axberg, the company’s new head of North America, said the company is looking for US partners. AT&T and Samsung Telecommunications, both of which operate out of Dallas, have expressed interest in linking up with Dropmyemail, which has received seed funding from Crystal Horse Investments and Stanley Street Labs.

“We have found that telecommunications companies globally are interested in bringing our solutions to their vast base of consumer customers to help back up their emails and phone data,” said CEO John Fearon.

Dropmyemail also operates offices in Mumbai and Buenos Aires. The company’s fourth international office will open up in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region in the “near future.”

Since launching five months ago, Dropmyemail has attracted more than 900,000 signups, up from the 630,000 signups reported in March. The company, one of Singapore’s largest startups, has also won awards at several Asian startup conferences, including Echelon 2012, where the service also made an impression on TNW’s Jon Russell.
