Apple is now offering an unlocked GSM version of its iPhone 5s flagship handset SIM-free, providing a more flexible option for owners that also happen to be globe-trotters.

The device starts at $649 for the 16GB version and goes up to $849 for the version with 64GB of storage and will ship in 1 – 2 weeks.

While buyers will need to supply the SIM themselves, the GSM version of the device does mean it is compatible with more mobile networks outside of the US, particularly in Europe where the GSM standard is used instead of CDMA. In the US, AT&T and T-Mobile both use GSM, so this will work fine on those networks.
