New York-based stock photography marketplace Shutterstock has announced plans to launch a new service, dubbed Offset, which will offer premium, high-end stock photos and illustrations through a new marketplace.
According to Shutterstock, Offset’s content is “in an entirely new caliber” with the sort of images that you’d use as a magazine cover or a “two-page spread.” In other words, these photographs will be quite expensive to license — by Shutterstock.com pricing standards, that is.
We’ve heard that content may be priced between $250 and $500 per image, depending on the size, but we’re not able to confirm how different licenses will be utilized.
Offset’s target market appears to fall along the lines of “high-end magazines, ad agencies and commercial buyers,” according to Shutterstock’s promotional video (shown below). The content will target areas such as “commercial lifestyle, nature, food, wildlife, travel,” and will include photography from the likes of Maura McEvoy. In other words, it won’t be easy to poke fun at.
According to Shutterstock’s event invitation, a preview of the service will be available on March 27th. The site appears to be slated for a public launch within the next few months.
