Singapore-based video site Viddsee has inked a partnership with Yahoo to bring its Asian short films to users across Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines. A dedicated Viddsee “Asian Short Films” channel is now live on Yahoo Entertainment in these countries, which features award-winning short films by local independent filmmakers across Asia.
Ho Jia Jian, the co-founder of Viddsee, notes that other than surfacing its content to a larger audience, this move will also help it grow its brand and streams for filmmakers. On top of that, Yahoo users will also benefit, as Alan Soon, the managing editor of Yahoo Southeast Asia, notes that short film viewings are often limited to film festivals.
Viddsee, an online video platform for indie filmmakers across Southeast Asia to showcase their short films where people can watch them for free, launched a mobile Web app last year — but says it’s still working to develop native iOS and Android apps.
