Today, SeatGeek, a New York City based startup that operates events and ticketing search engine just announced a multi-year partnership with Yahoo today, to power ticket search and listings on their Yahoo Sports and Rivals (college sports) properties.

Despite rising negativity surrounding Yahoo brands, Yahoo Sports still receives over 51 million unique visitors a month, which is more traffic than ESPN. SeatGeek will now power listings across all of their sports pages, with links that push users directly through to SeatGeek where they’ll see a co-branded version of SeatGeek’s interactive maps.

“SeatGeek is excited to partner with Yahoo! Sports, the largest sports site which includes Rivals, the trusted destination for NCAA football, basketball, and baseball fans,” said Russell D’Souza, co-founder of SeatGeek. “Yahoo! is one of the world’s most innovative companies, and the SeatGeek partnership is a natural extension of their focus on user experience.”

Progress have quickly been moving and shaking for SeatGeek, a 2-year old startup that launched out of Philadelphia’s DreamIt Ventures program in 2009. Last week, SeatGeek completely redesigned its site, making Ticketmaster look like MySpace. In February, the hip ticketing site grabbed an undisclosed investment from actor turned tech geek Ashton Kutcher, as well as Guy Oseary through A Grade Investments.

Last week it also unleashed a new self-serve platform that allows advertisers to use very granular controls to target the right markets. For its launch, SeatGeek partnered with TicketsNow, Hipmunk, ToughMudder and The Lion King, one of Broadway’s biggest shows.

The new super-smart ad platform has already boosted SeatGeek’s revenue, with about 25% of its revenue coming from sponsorships as of today. It plans on exponentially increasing this number throughout the year, and its partnership with Yahoo Sports will likely bolster its revenue even more. To date, SeatGeek has raised $2.5 million in venture capital from Founder Collective, NYC Seed, A Grade Investments and others.
