Here at TNW, most of our Slack conversations are just dank memes and whatever Giphy thinks is appropriate. Finally, there’s a way to invoke our favorite characters from our beloved TV shows to do the talking for us.

Last July, SayWhat released a clever app that made sense of slang through short video explainers from its vibrant community. The team is back with another fun tool that adds some color to your conversations in Slack.

SayWhat.LoL has indexed nearly 20 hit TV shows, including Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Game of Thrones, Modern Family and Friends, in its new search engine for quotes. You can use it to add a GIF with any phrase you can think of into your Slack chats.

Head to the site, add the bot to Slack and then type /saywhat phrase : TV show to instantly add a GIF. For example, /saywhat i’m hungry : The Simpsons will most likely pull up a loop of Homer heading out in search of food. And in case you’re in a hurry, the bot works without the TV show name too.

If you’re looking for a specific clip, you can use the search engine on its own. It lets you look through several clips matching the quote you entered and offers it up to download as a video file with sound or a silent GIF. Just what you need to waste Friday away.
