Samsung just sent out invites for its next hardware event. And while it doesn’t explicitly say it will be releasing the next device in the Note series, the accompanying graphics and timing make it pretty obvious.
Update: Actually, Samsung isn’t even bothering to keep any semblance of mystery; it specifically says it will be releasing the Note 7 on its own website.
If you’re wondering why it’s the Note seven and not the Note 6, Samsung has previously stated that it’s planning on skipping the number 6 simply so that the Note series can catch up to the S series’ branding (The Note 5 seemed like it was a version behind the S6, for example).
As for what we know about the phone so far, well, we know a fairly good deal. Images of a prototype leaked just yesterday. Assuming they’re real, they confirm that the Note series will have curved edges., and that the fingerprint sensor is now recessed into the body.
The curved edges also suggest there will be no Edge Plus device this time around.

Spec wise, the device is rumored to come with a 5.7-inch QHD display, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and IP68 waterproofing and a MicroSD card slot. It’ll also likely come loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat when it launches.
The event will take place in New York City at 11AM ET. We’ll be there of course, so stay tuned to TNW for more news as it comes. You can follow the livestream at Samsung.com.
