Square Enix is about to make a whole lot of
nerds people very happy — they’re releasing Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
I’m not usually one for games on the iPhone, since they generally tend to disappoint me, and get deleted very quickly even if I do give them a try. That said, I’ll download Final Fantasy in a heartbeat if they’re selling it. There are many classic games, but there are few with an interface well-suited for a touchscreen device. Final Fantasy is one of them.
Square Enix set up this site as a portal for the games, leading to Twitter and Facebook profiles, where they’re posting more tidbits as time wears on.
These games will also address the serious lack of decent RPG’s available on the App Store. Hopefully they won’t charge an arm and a leg for the download, but they aren’t giving a release date yet, so we’ll have to wait and see!
