Reddit took a hard stance that America will still be standing tomorrow. On the homepage today, CEO u/spez greeted US redditors with a message containing resources to assist voters with sample ballots, polling place locations, and general information to help facilitate the democratic process.
He also took a second to remind each of us that emotions are running high this time of year, which may be putting it lightly, and that the United States has the “longest stretch of uninterrupted peaceful transfers of power” in the world.
Here’s the message in its entirety.
To all US redditors,
Today is Election Day in the United States. Regardless of which candidate you believe spells certain doom for our nation, voting is a right and one of the most effective ways of influencing how our country is run.
Here are some resources with sample ballots, polling place locations, and more:
This is Reddit’s third election cycle, and we know emotions run high this time of year. The United States celebrates the longest stretch of uninterrupted peaceful transfers of power in the world. When the dust settles, our country will still be standing, as will Reddit, and we can get back to arguing about whether a hotdog is sandwich (it’s not).

Where some might disagree is on the last part. No, not the hot dog thing, it’s definitely not a sandwich. Heathens. The second to last thing: “When the dust settles, our country will still be standing.”
In our exhaustive research, we’ve determined that might not be the case. Bear in mind, our research involved a 30 second Twitter search and then some pasting of screenshots from expert (probably) political analysts.
