Opinionaided, a free app for iPhone and iPod Touch, allows users to get advice and opinions on anything, in real-time.
When we reviewed Opinionaided the app was in its infancy, and had room for improvement. Kurani Interactive, creators of the app, have done just that with recent updates, while experiencing huge growth and receiving $1.2M in new funding.
Updated, version 3.0, offers the ability to further customize the voting process by filtering questions by gender, while simplifying the way users ask questions directly to their friends.
Further, Opinionaided now includes a method for discovering friends, and push notifications to keep track of the results of the questions while not in the app.
CEO Dan Kurani:
“We’re filling a pain point out there that hasn’t been solved by any other social media service, big or small. We’re delivering super-fast opinions to virtually any question on-the-fly, which has proven to be compel 40 million responses to about 500,000 questions.”
Opinionaided’s growth has resulted in an additional seed round of $1 million from venture capitalists General Catalyst, SoftBank Capital and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. .
In addition the company is announcing angel investment contributions from DeamIt Ventures’ Mark Wachen, Jonah Goodhart of Point Ventures Group, Early advisor to Facebook Karl Jacob, ENIAC Ventures and Vince Monical, former head of Emerging Platforms, Google among others. This new round takes the company’s total funding to $1.2 million.
The new funds will allow Opinionaided to further expand its mobile question and answer community and expand to other mobile platforms, including an Android device offering.
