Rakuten-owned LinkShare acquires online ad tech firm mediaFORGE

Rakuten LinkShare today announced that it has entered into an agreement to buy mediaFORGE, a Salt Lake City, Utah-based Internet display advertising technology firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2009, mediaFORGE provides online advertisers with tools to prospect, retarget and engage customers to help drive higher conversion.

Rakuten LinkShare is buying the company to boost its portfolio of affiliate marketing, search marketing and lead generation solutions.

The company, which was simply called LinkShare before it was acquired by Japanese e-commerce and Internet services giant Rakuten for $425 million in cash back in 2005, says the deal will enable mediaFORGE to accelerate its expansion and reach throughout the US, Canada, the UK, and Japan.
