Private social network Togethera has introduced the option of premium accounts for Android users and updated its photo sharing features.
The service lets you create closed groups where anything posted can only be seen by the members. Nothing shared on Togethera shows up on search engines.
Its upgraded photo sharing feature allows users to add up to 100 photos to a single post. Premium subscribers will also be able to order five free photo prints per month from the end of March.
Other features of the paid accounts include the ability to upload 5 minute videos – instead of 15 seconds – and automatic photo backups to Dropbox.
Sokratis Papafloratos, Founder of Togethera, told TNW that the reasoning behind the decision to start charging people for what was previously a free service was “transparency” –
It’s a stand we’re taking. We have always said that we will keep our users data private and never show them ads, and the only way to do that is to be transparent about how you are making your money.
Premium accounts are Android-only for now, but will come to the company’s iOS app at a later date. Subscriptions start at $2.99 (£2.29) per month with the option to pay $6.99 (£4.99) per quarter or $15.99 (£11.99) for the year.
