Prisma’s painting-like video filters now work on Facebook Live

Prisma’s painting-like video filters now work on Facebook Live

Prisma, the filter app that makes pictures and video like trippy paintings, is taking its effects to the next level with live video support.

The latest update to Prisma is the natural evolution of the technology, and now that the app covers everything from stills to 360 video to livestreaming, it’s getting a bit harder to see where the company plans on taking its technology next. At least Prisma tells us GIFs are on the way.

Competition is getting tighter for the small company given Facebook just launched its own painting-like video filters today, although these can’t be used during live video. Facebook’s filters are also currently only available in Ireland, but their arrival elsewhere is imminent.

Livestreaming with Prisma filters is launching for the iPhone 7 and 6s models only, as the processing happens locally and the filters require a fair bit of processing power. No word on when the feature will arrive on Android – which is still waiting offline processing in the first place – but it’s likely just a matter of time.
