Pre-orders of Nintendo Switch begin Friday but you probably aren’t getting one

Pre-orders of Nintendo Switch begin Friday but you probably aren’t getting one

For the past year, we’ve dug into rumors and sifted through half-truths about Nintendo’s upcoming console, Switch. A tweet today reminds us it’s almost over and opens the door to pre-orders for the console set to release in March.

Unfortunately, Nintendo NY is a brick-and-mortar store, so unless you’re in line by 9am — and probably hours before — the chances of you getting one are slim, bordering on none. If you happen to be a Manhattan resident, your chances are better than most, but you’ll still probably need to camp out in front of the store to snag one.

The puzzling part is the “limited quantity of pre-orders.” The console doesn’t come out until March, and I’m not sure how you can have a limited quantity of something that doesn’t exist yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No word yet on when we might see online pre-orders or in-store options in other locations but maybe we’ll find out at tomorrow’s late-night (in the US) Nintendo Switch event. Tune in at 11pm ET to Nintendo’s official website, or YouTube channel for more information.
