Playlists.net updates its iOS app for Spotify users with custom artwork, geo-tagged mixes and more

If you want to discover new music with your iPhone or iPad on Spotify, Playlists.net has you covered. The company, formerly known as ShareMyPlaylists, has updated its iOS app today with a number of new features including custom artwork and geo-tagged mixes.

Six months in the making, the app separates its library of over 145,000 playlists with a number of categories including Most Played, Latest and Moods. They’re all found in the sidebar, accessible from the icon in the top left-hand corner of the screen, and utilize a clean grid interface for navigation.

Tapping once on the cover art will reveal the tracklisting for each playlist, with a secondary tap loading up the mix within the Playlists.net app. As with the regular Spotify app, you’ll need a Premium subscription to actually listen to these mixes on your iPhone or iPad.

Today’s update adds custom artwork to the app for the very first time and there’s also a new ‘Pin’ feature which gives users the ability to see geo-tagged playlists in the surrounding area. It’s an unusual feature, with the idea being that you’ll leave a curated mix in the gym or park for another Spotify user to uncover.
