Platform 5 makes it easier than ever for web developers to wrestle with WordPress

Platform 5 makes it easier than ever for web developers to wrestle with WordPress

WordPress is a necessary evil for many websites (ours included), but dealing with its clunky interface no longer has to be. PageLines is introducing Platform 5 for web developers, a set of plugins that offer drag-and-drop ease to compliment WordPress’ power.

Platform 5 also offers real-time editing, so you can see what your site will look like ahead of publication. It also works with current WordPress themes; it’s just making the editing easier.

PageLines also says you can add a “limitless” amount of plugins for your site with Platform 5. There are plenty of them, too; to start, Platform 5 offers everything from parallax scrolling to user profiles, so you’re bound to find what you need.

It’s all written in JavaScript, too, so there’s little concern the plugins will break — regardless of what updates WordPress pushes.

Platform 5 is free to use. PageLines is monetizing by offering a library of ‘pro’ extensions.

Though it may not be quite as simple as Weebly, Wix or Squarespace, Platform 5 is offering a robust set of tools that is highly customizable and scalable. For those that feel they’re punching a bit above Wix’s weight class, Platform 5 is worth a look.
