Pissed off Suicide Squad fans petition to shut down Rotten Tomatoes over terrible reviews

Suicide Squad is one of the most widely-anticipated movies of 2016, but early indications seem to suggest it sucks.

The film currently has a 32 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of 2016’s worst major motion pictures. And now, DC fans have their panties in a bunch over the less-than-stellar reviews and decided to start a petition to take down Rotten Tomatoes.

If you’re unfamiliar with the site, Rotten Tomatoes is an aggregator of sorts that allows fans and critics to post their thoughts on films. It doesn’t actually do the reviews itself, it just serves as a central location for you to get a quick peak at whether a film is worth watching. Suicide Squad is not — at least according to critics.

DC fans, it seems, expected better. Rather than placing their vitriol on the studio, the actors, the director or any number of other people involved with the film, they’re aiming directly at Rotten Tomatoes — the innocent bystander that’s just attempting to centralize the plethora of truly terrible reviews.

Surprisingly, the petition has amassed nearly 14,000 of its 15,000 signature goal so far.

The petitioner, Abdullah Coldwater — who sounds like a Suicide Squad villain himself — wants to make it clear that this petition isn’t about shutting down Rotten Tomatoes (even though it’s titled “Shutdown Rotten Tomatoes”).

Second A Clarification: A petition definitely won’t shut down the site. The aim of the petition is to deliver a message to the critics that there is a lot of people disagree with their reviews.

There you have it, change we can believe in. This change, however, comes in the form of a poorly-worded rant that wants to send a message not at all related to the message the petition’s title is seemingly sending. Gotta love the internet.
