Sometimes, getting your recently snapped photo ready for social media can be tricky. Over, a photo editing app made just for that scenario, has been updated to version 3 with some cool new features for adding text and more granular control over your edits.
The crux of Over is adding text to your photos, and that’s precisely where it shines. The core app lets you add any text you like, and change the font size and type. It even lets you change the color, and has a clever color picker if you’d rather match text to an existing color in the image.
You can rotate the text, and a clever nudge feature lets you get your text sat just right in the picture. It also keeps layers segmented until you save an image, giving you complete control until the very end. If you want to add shapes, that’s possible as well.
Cleverly, Over also has preset photo sizes for different social mediums. Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter (for instance) all use different aspect ratios. Over has all of them saved, so you can crop before or after you edit a photo.
If you don’t care about fitting an image to some social site, you can also set a custom crop.
For those times you wish Over did a bit more, add-ons are available. Many are free to download, but some come as in-app purchases. You can choose new fonts, effects, or stock artwork with pre-set fonts you can edit.
Over won’t solve all of your photo editing woes, but it does a really solid job of filling a void other apps left for it. It’s available in the App Store for $3.99.
