According to Google’s Apps Status Dashboard you won’t be able to edit your Google Docs this Saturday. Google Docs will be down for maintenance on Saturday, September 5th from 12:00 till 1:30 pm PST. All Docs will still be accessible but you just won’t be able to edit them.

No word yet on the reason for the planned maintenance but it must be interesting. Locking all of Google Docs isn’t something Google would do for just any reason. The downtime isn’t announced, or explained, or the official Google Docs blog either. Google, and Google Docs, experienced some downtime this week but there are no indications that this downtime has anything to do with that.

We will update as more details come to light.
