Open-source blogging platform Ghost renames its fully-hosted service Ghost(Pro)

Open-source blogging platform Ghost renames its fully-hosted service Ghost(Pro)

Ghost is doing a little bit of housekeeping for its open-source blogging platform. Until now, the company’s name has covered two aspects of its work – the software itself, which is free to download, use and share, and its paid-for hosting service, which helps writers quickly set up their own blog.

The latter is the company’s only source of income, so today it’s renaming the hosting side to make it just a little clearer for newcomers. So from now on, it’ll be called Ghost(Pro), while the software itself remains just Ghost.

Otherwise, it’s business as usual. “Over the course of the next few days we’ll be updating some naming and slowly rolling this out across Ghost.org,” John O’Nolan, founder and lead designer for Ghost said. “There are no other changes to any existing Ghost(Pro) plans. It’s just a new name.”
