Snapdeal now offers a same day delivery option for its eBay-backed online marketplace in India

Snapdeal now offers a same day delivery option for its eBay-backed online marketplace in India

The eBay-backed online marketplace Snapdeal is attempting to one-up its rivals in India by offering same day delivery of orders placed via its website before 1pm local time.

To begin, the company is offering the Same Day Express Delivery Service in select areas — Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), to be specific — and that it currently doesn’t attract any additional delivery fee.

The move puts pressure on Snapdeal’s biggest rivals in the country, Amazon and Flipkart, both of which announced ‘within a day’ delivery options in India just a few weeks ago, which isn’t quite the same thing as ‘same day’, but it remains to be seen whether offering expedited delivery at no extra cost will make sense for the company.
