eBay is making considerable noise today about its new in-store pick up service Click & Collect in the UK, but in the midst of the announcement was arguably an even bigger reveal – eBay Now is coming to Europe.
The local delivery service, already available in the US for cities such as San Francisco, New York and San Jose, will launch in London early next year.
Customers will be able to see which stores are signed up to the scheme across the city and then have goods delivered to a nearby location “in about an hour.” In the US, there’s a $5 charge per order and a $25 minimum spend in order to justify each order.
Nevertheless, the roll-out in London (a wider release in Europe was also alluded to) would beat rival service Google Shopping Express to market. It’s certainly a useful tool – if you desperately need a new umbrella before you leave the office, you can have it delivered to your desk hassle-free.
