Let’s all take a moment from being partisan, and enjoy something that has political overtones, but is simply hilarious.
Barack Obama, the current President of the United States, is proud of his Twitter follower count. At some 12.8 million followers, you can understand why. However, Obama made his digital contentment plain at an event, in which he called out Parks and Recreation star Aziz Ansari for being less popular on the service.
Not only did Obama make the remark about his Twitter account, he tweeted the clip (an assistant we assume actually pulled the trigger). There’s a lot going on here, including the fact that it was BuzzFeed that snagged the video. BuzzFeed, the quirky humor site has recently built a massively powerful political arm. You can’t read the mainstream political news these days without seeing links and notes about stories that the site is breaking.
Of course, most of those are more serious than this. But, it’s Monday, so dig the clip and have a laugh:
Barack’s tweet, if you were curious, reads as follows: “President Obama to @AzizAnsari: “I’ve got more Twitter followers than you, man.” In other words, he appreciates you. http://OFA.BO/QKdaMC.” Now, we can’t for Aziz to strike back, on Twitter, natch.
