O2 Restricts iPhone 4 Sales To Existing Customers

O2 Restricts iPhone 4 Sales To Existing Customers

In the market for an iPhone 4? O2 has announced that new customers need not apply – their iPhone 4s are for existing customers only until 31 July.

The iPhone 4 truly is shaping up to be the most in-demand version of Apple’s handset yet. We’ve seen preorders for the first day run out in the States, and now in an effort to curb disappointment O2 writes on its website today:

“iPhone stock will be extremely limited in the UK at launch and not everybody who wants one will be able to get one straight away. We want to make sure that our existing customers get priority so until at least the end of July, only existing O2 customers will be able to get an iPhone 4 from us. “

Note the “at least” the end of July. This policy could be extended if demand continues to be high.

There’s been no such announcement from other UK networks (yet) so there should be plenty of opportunity to grab yourself an iPhone 4. Just not from O2 unless you’re already with them. If you’re dead-set on O2, get ready to sit and twiddle your thumbs until August at the earliest.
