You might remember at the end of last month we reported that over 3000 Windows Phone 7 handsets had been deployed and were in active use.
That number has doubled in just two weeks, with the official Facebook application page now showing 6,483 monthly users.
The swift rise in active users could be attributed to Microsoft sending out handsets to developers in an attempt to spark innovation inside its Marketplace, both YouTube and Yelp have committed to developing apps ready for the release of Windows Phone 7.
Microsoft’s Andy Lees, Senior Vice President of Mobile also announced that all Microsoft employees would be getting a Windows Phone 7 handset too, some of these may have already made their way to Microsoft staff.
We expect the number of active users to steadily rise as the launch date nears, Microsoft will want to hit the ground running.
