Nokia poised to launch Lumia 920 in the Middle East on November 12

Nokia poised to launch Lumia 920 in the Middle East on November 12

Nokia is planning a launch event for its flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone next Monday in Dubai, Tech-WD.com reports after receiving an invitation.

The invite carries the tagline “It’s time to switch” and the date (12-11-12). The event is expected to bring the Lumia 920 to the Middle East region.

The Lumia 920 arrived in the UK and France last week and is coming to Russia, Germany, the US and other markets later this month.

The Middle East will be a crucial market for Nokia this year. The region has historically been strong for the company, and the company needs all the momentum it can get for its Windows 8 phones.

“[It] plays a really important role because the Middle East and Africa is that area where we have relative to other regions a stronger position in market share wise,” CEO Stephen Elop reportedly said earlier this year.

Nokia sold just 2.9 million Lumia phones last quarter and posted a $754 million operating loss.
