Nokia prices Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in Europe for mid-November release, preorders begin in Russia

Launching its new Windows Phone 8 smartphones in New York earlier in the month, Nokia has started announce pricing for the new Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in Europe and opening preorders in Russia.

The Verge points out that Nokia has pushed live a press release on its Russian website, alerting customers that the two devices will become available in the fourth quarter. The Lumia 920 comes with a 24,990 ruble ($800) price-tag and the Lumia 820 will cost 19,990 rubles ($640).

Preorders are also live, and available via the following links: Lumia 920 | Lumia 820

TNW readers have also forwarded emails from Nokia’s Italian office, while releases have hit Nokia’s German website.

Pricing differs, but only slightly:

  • Germany – Lumia 920: €649 ($836) | Lumia 820: €499 euros ($643)
  • Italy – Lumia 920: €599 (€772) | Lumia 820: €499 euros ($643)

The Lumia 920 is available in yellow, white, red and black, with the Lumia 820 also available in the same colors.

Preorders have not been pushed live on Nokia’s German or Italian portals at the time of writing, but the company has said the device will be available in “mid-November.”

Nokia also isn’t commenting on pricing or availability in other markets (including the US or UK), sharing the following statement:

Operators and retailers have started to announce plans to sell the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820. We’re getting good support for these new Windows Phone 8 flagships, and this is all about underlining the growing momentum behind the Windows Phone ecosystem.

The UK is a key smartphone market for Nokia and ranging for the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 has already been announced by EE, other availability announcements will follow.

With Microsoft set to formally launch Windows Phone 8 at the end of the October, a November launch has always been on the cards. Nokia will face competition from HTC’s new 8X and 8S smartphones, which are set to go on sale around the same time.
