Launched on the 19th, Petit Computer is a new game that actually lets you write programs in BASIC directly on your Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DSi.
In other words, if you own either console, all you have to do is download the app via the eShop ($7.99) or DSi Shop (800 points) and you will be able to start experimenting with an “adapted version” of the classic BASIC programming language for some extreme nostalgic fun, while exploring the essential elements of programming.
According to creator SmileBoom, the game lets you “create everything from music, to images, to your very own original games.” Clearly, Petit Computer isn’t for the faint of heart (just think of the hardware you’re using), but if you’re interested in geeking out with your 3DS or DSi, here’s your chance.
From SmileBoom:
Whether you have experience of BASIC, or are a complete novice, you will find that Petit Computer will give you the skills you need to create your own programs. You can select commands and run programs using the Nintendo DS Touch Screen, and you can even share your creations via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, allowing you to collaborate with other users. You can also create special QR codes containing your programs that other users can scan using their Nintendo DS system camera. Petit Computer is a perfect companion for anyone who has ever wanted to delve deeper into the world of computer programming.
If you think you can handle it, learn more via the link below and then download the game directly through your device.
