Netflix’s excellent series Stranger Things, which ran its entire first season last July, stole hearts with its lovable characters and nostalgic 80s setting, and snagged the SAG award for drama ensemble out of the clutches out of heavyweight rivals like Game of Thrones and Westworld last month.
The show finally has some good news for fans: In its Super Bowl commercial, it revealed that it’ll return with season two on Halloween, which is on October 31.
Okay, so it’s not the best news, as the announcement means you’ll have to hold out for nine whole months before you can get your fix of Stranger Things. But it looks like it’ll be worth the wait.
The second season will take place in 1984, a year after the events of the first. Last August, the Duffer Brothers, who created the show, told Entertainment Weekly that most of the cast will be back, and will also be joined by four new characters – but the return of Eleven is still “up in the air.”
It’ll also take them beyond the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, and also deeper into the dangerous dimension known as the Upside Down.
Oh, and look – Ghostbusters costumes! Hopefully they’re more than just set pieces in the upcoming season. I can’t wait until Halloween to find out.
